Carrie & Kaz knew they wanted wedding at The Smith Center years before the wedding even arrived. It took some negotiating, but Carrie convinced the venue TWO years before the wedding date to sell her the venue you for the wedding. That girl has skills! When I met with Carrie & Kaz (a year before the wedding), they knew they wanted a black and white wedding, something classic, timeless and a hint of art deco. And I have to say, I included quite a few portraits below of the Carrie & Kaz…because, I couldn’t help it.  Sorry I’m not sorry.

You may remember Carrie & Kaz from their engagement session by AltF. Carrie is a California (slash East Coast) girl and Kaz is the epitome of an English gentleman hailing from London. Planning with them was like just hanging with a buddy and having wedding chatter thrown in!
On the wedding day, I couldn’t get over how fantastic the wedding party looked. This group didn’t come to play. They were on POINT. The ladies were amazing in short black lace dresses. The gentlemen? All with British accents and perfectly tailored suits, I mean…it was like living in a magazine! Kaz had his suit custom made (no small feat) and was only outshone by his stunnnnning bride. Carrie encapsulated all the words she’d be telling me for months: timeless, classic, elegant, beautiful. Her all lace gown was perfected with a lace tipped veil. Watching her walk down the aisle of The Smith Center had the feeling of a grand Cathedral entrance. It was breathtaking! Carrie’s grandfather officiated the ceremony and was clearly touched to see his granddaughter walking toward him ready to be married.
For the reception, the black and white wedding theme was carried through the black ruffle La Tavola linens, white seated Chameleon chairs, and Layers of Lovely florals filled with roses, hydrangea and anemones. Carrie asked for a touch of emerald green which was incorporated in her napkins and stationery elements custom designed by She Paperie. Kaz had requested a banana cake and Peridot Sweets delivered with a 5 tier art deco wedding cake in emerald, gold and white.  Somewhere along the wedding planning process, I had pitched the idea to Carrie of a black and white striped dance floor.  I wasn’t sure she’d go for it, but it became one of her ‘must-have’ items and I think it helped pack a punch of something fun and unexpected into the reception.  Memory Lane created a special video for this couple and I can’t wait until the feature film is released to relieve the entire wedding day over again!
